David (DE) Navarro’s connection with Better Than Starbucks (BTS) began several years ago when the literary journal published a number of his poems. Fellow ASPS member Gene Twaronite was also published in BTS, and other ASPS poets may have appeared in its pages as well.  Over the years, Better Than Starbucks developed an outstanding reputation in the literary community and attracted an international readership. The journal received high marks from literary review sites and regularly nominated its poets for prominent awards, including the Pushcart Prize. Four of its poets and one author went on to receive prestigious literary honors.  Through his involvement with BTS, Navarro came to know the journal’s owner and publisher, as well as its editor-in-chief, and those professional relationships grew into friendships. When the owner and publisher passed away in December 2025, Navarro inherited Better Than Starbucks Publishing House and the literary journal through his estate.  Now Navarro is giving Better Than Starbucks a new beginning. He has retained the former editor-in-chief and brought back a team of ten highly credentialed editors to revive the journal. With this experienced team in place, BTS is returning with Volume 8, Number 1—a new chapter for a journal with an already distinguished literary history.  Submissions are now open for the rejuvenated Better Than Starbucks Poetry & Fiction journal. BTS does NOT charge any kind of submission fees or reading fees. They never have and claim they never will.
